an ordinary day

Quite a typical morning on the way to the office. We haven't had much of a winter this year. January should be covered in white - or rather grey - city snow.

The ice at Hellasgården looks quite thin, it's good to have a warning sign. (More by Micke on plenty)

A view of a wintry Skeppsholmen as seen from Strandvägen. Skeppsholmen used to be a strategic naval base at the entrance to Stockholm. Nowadays it's filled with peaceful museums. The yearly Stockholm Jazz Festival is also held here.

a day in the sun

Today, at long last, the sun decided to grant us a bit of attention again. December and January are pretty dark months any year but this time they have been particularly gloomy. So far. This is the garden by the Vasa Museum. Looks like it'll need quite a lot of sunshine before anything will grow there again.

Strömma Kanalbolaget ship M/S Stockholm tied up at Strandvägen on a snowy November evening. The ship was built in 1931 by Oskarshamns Varv Ab and was originally sailing under the name S/S Öland. M/S Stockholm has been in service in Sweden, Finland and Denmark. The ship's full history can be found here (only in Swedish).

Riddarholmen in February

.The sun sets gracefully by Riddarholmen. Our Friday Guest takes us half a year back. Or is it half a year into the future? The huge differences between four distinct seasons make our climate ever fascinating. Riddarholmen is a small islet, rich in history,
in the centre of Stockholm.

where's Bryan?

A Djurgården Ferry arriving at Skeppsholmen. This ferry serves Stockholm’s inner harbor and is included in the city’s public transportation network.
.

hey, where's the party...

Roller Coasters, Free Fall and a house full of ghosts. Gröna Lund, the oldest amusement park in Sweden doesn't look very cheerful on a cloudy afternoon in March. It looks just old...

Ett vinterstängt Gröna Lund gör väl ingen glad?
Det ger möjligen lite perspektiv på tillvaron...

hands on

The snow has just fallen and, instead of making an angel, why not try to lend a hand to winter ? This opportunity shot was taken outside a school (of course) in Rissne. Who knows - they might even belong into this, which was found not far away.....
others on .
