Slowly we are walking home after the celebrating #1000. The city, some parts go back to the thirteenth century, that we love and show every day is starting to tuck in. Storkyrkan -
The Great Church - raises itself over the Old Town. The church, first mentioned in writing in 1279, is today the cathedral of Stockholm. Some things don't change. This is post #1001 and counting.
Yes, we have shown Storkyrkan
before. See also
Wikipedia.

Let's see now. We've done the
windows, brought the
champagne, the band is
practicing. And
Sergel Square - in the middle of the city, the symbolic center of Sweden and often focus of our attention here on
pixels - is properly decorated. Looks like we're ready.
Detail from the
statue in front of the Concert hall at Haymarket (Hötorget). I tried to copy Per's blue sky, but didn't quite make it.

A few buses
once again enjoy a nap after another hectic day of commuting. Besides, who would want to leave the city at a moment like this?

A sign telling us we have a public bath in the immediate vicinity. Here's another view but in daylight. Olofsgatan (map) 26 Jan 2008

On the way to '

South Central stretches out.

Here's the Adolf Fredrik Church again, we don't mind returning here once in a while. Spring is not quite up to speed yet so let's remember Bernt's eternal flower bed from last year.

Here's the secret light source that Per used so cleverly for the pink buildings. As you can see, it's a very powerful illumination. The big screen paints almost everything around it in the predominant colour.

Infrastructure isn't always pretty but what would we do without it? Under the Skanstull Bridge a different perspective awaits.

It's been a while now, since the Globe was (a)round. A "lady in red", dressed up for the night, with a lot of shining jewelry around her. Like the "diamond" bracelet? Picture taken from the subway station.

Samma tid imorgon?

The Sofia Church in the middle of South Central. It's fascinating with the really old quarters with wooden houses, in the middle of a modern city.

Anyone who wants to guess where it's at? Hint: I've already shown you a few pics from the area. One of them in almost the same vivid colours. No? Maybe this will help..

The open air museum Skansen welcomes visitors every month of the year. Most will prefer coming here in the summertime but the lights are more spectacular in this darker season.

...previously on pixels"...well officer, like I said... I was waiting for a friend of mine on that plaza and there was a gigantic, round something from above like a... uhm... bronto mushroom... yeah mushroom and then there was like a big light and then I just [click]... hello, officer? are you still there?".

photo: Kenneth Blake.Another January view over Strandvägen and Nybroplan, not terribly far away from Per's boxes. In the top left corner we see - no, not the moon - the exclusive department store NK's giant clock. .

One of the two King's Towers (Kungstornen) in evening shroud. Kindly enough they have left the light burning on the upper floor, giving the statues an eerie green light. There is a surprise for you in this pic. See if you can find it :-)

The University of Life does not award its scholarships fairly. Some are given the best of circumstances, yet others will have to make do with bits and pieces. Yours truly has seldom missed an opportunity to grumble about the levels of taxation in Sweden. But the fact that higher education is available to anyone is something to appreciate. To be proud of.
Studying at the Stockholm University changes perspectives for tens of thousands of students every year and brings insight into stuff they didn't dream of, things not remotely connected to what they were really here to learn in Frescati. See more? .

Saint Nicolaus Church, commonly known as Storkyrkan (The Great Church), is the oldest church in the Old town. On this photo we see the church from its right side, from Högvaktsterrassen (Royal Guard terrace). The church is situated right next to the Royal Palace and if you look very closely you can see one of the royal guards. If you turn your head to your right you can see the Parliament..

Night falls by Stureplan. Nowhere is the pulse of the inner city more vibrant. Here you'd find some of the most prestigious office locations. And here's where the local jet set mingle into the morning. .
