head office (3)
The Posten head office building from below. Many people - yes, me too - think the building resembles a large ship.

Here are a bunch of balconies, each with a good view of Skebokvarnsvägen in Högdalen ("the High Valley")

Sweden has a reputation as a nation of ship-builders. It's pretty ironic that one of the most spectacular failures in the construction of maritime vessels has turned into a huge tourist attraction of ours. We didn't have a leaning tower so we built a glorious and mighty warship which immediately sank on her maiden voyage in 1628. The Vasa Museum is constantly among the most popular places to visit in town and, in fact, the most popular museum in all of Scandinavia.

In the University of Life we're all students. There are many paths to knowledge and knowledge hasn't much to do with wisdom. Go figure!

The old mail center at Klara (built in the early 80's) is presently being torn down (it started on Dec 11th). In 2010 the new building will be ready, almost 75000 squaremeters big (hotel 20500, conference 20000 and office-space 34000). Right now it looks as if war has come to Stockholm, but I guess it always will when old buildings have to go. The machines used to tear it down are awesome. They chew the concrete like it was a sandwich. Have a look at plenty.

Kulturhuset is world-renowned for it's stunning beauty. Not. When you're done with the front and the inside you might want to venture to the opposite side of the building from 1974. Behold what you'd find behind this cultural center (here) (see more?)

Sweden's central bank is The Riksbank by Brunkebergstorg. Our currency may be small from a global perspective, a fact which became painfully evident in the early nineties. But fear not! This facade signals strength and robustness. See more?
